Lucy Navarro is a dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to the mental health community. She was born and raised in Hawaii and moved to Washington, DC where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from George Washington University. Throughout her career, she wanted to make a difference by comforting a patient in pain or advocating for their needs.
She then received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University and Master of Science in Nursing specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner from George Mason University while working as a nurse in the neurological intensive care unit and adult transplant unit at Georgetown University Hospital. Lucy relocated to Raleigh in 2019 to be near family. Covid-19 led her to pursue her post-graduate certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University.
Lucy’s approach to psychiatric care is holistic and collaborative. She empowers patients to be self-advocates and active participants in their treatment plans. She encourages them to view their healthcare team as partners in their journey toward better health. She believes mental health is deeply interconnected with all aspects of a person’s life – physically, mentally, and spiritually. Lucy enjoys working with all patients, especially normalizing and destigmatizing mental health within the Asian community.
When she is not working, Lucy enjoys staying active with her husband and two sons, is a Peloton enthusiast, enjoys cooking and reading, and exploring what North Carolina has to offer!
